  • Low-VOC Water-Based Nitrile-Phenolic Primer
  • Blue-to-Blue-Green Color Change
  • BMS 5-42 Type 3 Qualification

Product Description

LOCTITE EA 2000 AERO is a heat-curing, water-based nitrile-phenolic primer for anodized aluminum used with nitrile-phenolic film adhesives. The dark-blue liquid can be applied by conventional or airless spray and changes to blue-green during cure, providing a visual indication of the processed primer layer. Its low-VOC formulation contains 15 g/L VOC and is qualified to Boeing BMS 5-42, Type 3. When applied and cured under the documented conditions, the primer provides chemical and water resistance and supports metal-to-metal bonding performance across temperatures from -67°F to 250°F (-55°C to 121°C).

Key features

  • Water-based, low-VOC formulation: Contains 15 g/L VOC and uses distilled or deionized water as the thinner.
  • Visual cure indication: Changes from dark blue to blue-green when cured.
  • Aerospace qualification: Qualified to Boeing BMS 5-42, Type 3.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Priming acid-etched and phosphoric-acid-anodized aluminum
  • Use with nitrile-phenolic film adhesives
  • Spray-applied primer layers for aerospace metal bonding
