Product Description
3M Polyurethane Sealant 540 is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane sealant that forms a permanent elastic bond for construction and industrial joints. The medium-paste material reaches tack-free condition in 60 to 90 minutes and cures at a typical rate of 3 mm per 24 hours. After cure, it has a Shore A hardness of 40, tensile strength of 2.1 MPa, and elongation at break above 600%. The sealant bonds documented materials including plastics, metals, fiberglass, and wood and is used in expansion joints, masonry joints, curtain walls, doors, windows, lap seams, and compatible submerged applications.
Key features
- One-component moisture cure: The medium-paste sealant requires no component mixing and reaches tack-free condition in 60 to 90 minutes.
- Elastic cured profile: Typical cured properties include Shore A 40 hardness and elongation at break above 600%.
- Construction joint versatility: The sealant bonds documented plastics, metals, fiberglass, and wood for multiple joint and seam applications.
Applications
Applications include expansion and control joints, precast and tilt-up construction, masonry joints, curtain walls, doors and windows, lap seams, and compatible submerged applications.
