SYLGARD 186

Harmonization Code : 3910.00.00.90 | Silicones in Primary Forms; Others

DOWSIL 186

Main features

  • 10:1 Meter-Mix Processing
  • 255% Cured Elongation
  • 100 ppi Tear Strength

Product Description

SYLGARD 186 Silicone Elastomer combines a two-part, 10:1 mix silicone system with room-temperature and heat-cure options to form a translucent, flexible encapsulant. Its high-viscosity mixed state and 1.65-hour working time support controlled potting and encapsulation of electrical assemblies, including power supplies, sensors, transformers, relays and solar-cell components. After cure, the material combines 255% elongation, 100 ppi Die B tear strength and electrical insulation properties. It can be processed by automated metered mixing and dispensing or by manual mixing, with de-airing selected based on part geometry and process needs.

Key features

  • 10:1 mix ratio: Supports manual or automated metered mixing and dispensing.
  • Flexible cured elastomer: Typical elongation is 255% with Shore A 24 hardness.
  • High tear strength: Typical Die B tear strength is 100 ppi after cure.

Applications

General potting and encapsulation of power supplies, connectors, sensors, controls, transformers, relays and related electrical assemblies.
