MOLYKOTE 7400

Main features

  • Water-Based MoS2/Graphite Dry-Film Lubricant
  • High Load-Carrying Capacity
  • Air-Curing Lubricant Coating

Product Description

MOLYKOTE® 7400 Anti-Friction Coating is an environmentally friendly, water-based, air-curing dry film lubricant completely free from flammable solvents. Formulated as a dark gray liquid containing solid lubricants like molybdenum disulfide and graphite within an organic binder, it dries to provide a permanent, non-soiling lubricating film. It excels in metal-to-metal applications involving high loads and slow-to-moderately fast movements, serving as an excellent alternative where the use of traditional oils or greases is restricted due to design or contamination risks.

Key features

  • Solvent-free formulation: Water-based chemistry eliminates flammable solvents, improving workplace safety while providing a low coefficient of friction.
  • High load capacity: Withstands extreme contact pressures, exhibiting a Falex load-carrying capacity of 11,300 N on phosphatized surfaces.
  • Rapid air curing: Offers fast, flexible curing options—achieving a fully cured film in just 40 minutes at room temperature (23°C) or in 5 minutes at 90°C.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Maintenance-free, permanent, and non-soiling lubrication of highly stressed friction combinations
  • Improving the running-in of gearboxes, sliding bearings, sliding guides, and car transmission shafts
  • Lubricating threaded sleeves of car seat adjusting mechanisms and cold working of steel
