Main features

  • Medium-Strength Thread Retention
  • Vibration-Resistant Fastener Threadlocking
  • Thread Sealing Protection

Product Description

LOCTITE® Threadlocker Blue 242® is a medium-strength anaerobic threadlocking adhesive designed for locking and sealing threaded metal fasteners that may require normal disassembly using standard hand tools. The adhesive cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces to prevent loosening caused by shock and vibration while helping protect threads against rust and corrosion. LOCTITE 242 is particularly effective on less active metals, including stainless steel and plated surfaces, and is commonly used in automotive, maintenance, industrial, and household fastening applications. Once cured, it forms a durable, moisture-resistant bond capable of withstanding service temperatures from -54°C to 149°C.

Key features

  • Medium-strength threadlocking: Secures threaded fasteners while allowing removal with standard hand tools.
  • Vibration resistance: Helps prevent fastener loosening caused by shock and vibration.
  • Thread sealing protection: Seals threads and helps protect against rust and corrosion.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Automotive fasteners including valve covers, water pumps, alternators, and oil pans.
  • Maintenance applications involving light machinery, conveyors, door hardware, and tow motors.
  • Household equipment such as lawn mowers, grills, bicycles, and locksets.
  • Threaded metal fasteners from 6 mm to 19 mm in diameter.
