- High-Density Casting Material
- High Temperature Potting Compound
- Self-Extinguishing Bonding Material
Product Description
EPOCAST 1636-A/B is a two-part, aluminum-filled epoxy syntactic potting compound for high-density and elevated-temperature applications. The medium-viscosity system mixes at 100:8 by weight and cures to a strong, machinable gray material. It is used to reinforce honeycomb structures and is qualified to BMS 5-28, Type 6. Typical cured data include compressive strengths up to 28.0 ksi (193 MPa), and the material is self-extinguishing under BSS-7230-F4. Its extended gel time, alternative room-temperature and heat-cure schedules, mechanical strength, and low measured fluid-immersion weight gain support demanding structural potting and reinforcement work.
Key features
- High-temperature compressive performance: Delivers a typical compressive strength of 28.0 ksi (193 MPa) when tested at 25°C after 14 days of exposure at 177°C.
- Controlled two-part processing: Features a 100:8 weight mix ratio, 29,000 cP mixed viscosity, and 120-minute gel time for a 50 g mass at 25°C.
- Qualified structural reinforcement: Used for honeycomb reinforcement, qualified to BMS 5-28, Type 6, and self-extinguishing under BSS-7230-F4.
