DOWSIL 832

Main features

  • Primerless Multi-Substrate Adhesion
  • One-Part Low-Odor Neutral Cure
  • -55 to 149 deg C Service

Product Description

DOWSIL™ 832 Multi-Surface Adhesive Sealant is a one-component, ready-to-use, 100% silicone RTV for bonding, sealing, assembly, and maintenance applications. The nonslumping paste cures through atmospheric moisture using a low-odor, neutral alcohol cure that is noncorrosive to metals and other corrosion-sensitive materials. It provides unprimed adhesion to many common substrates, including glass, metals, masonry, concrete, rubber, ABS, PVC, and polycarbonate. The cured material forms a flexible silicone rubber seal with a typical Shore A hardness of 35, tensile strength of 350 psi, and elongation of 420%. Applications include roof penetrations, gutters, concrete floor seams, marine equipment and windows, pipes, threaded connections, and original equipment assembly.

Key features

  • Broad substrate adhesion: Provides superior unprimed adhesion to a wide variety of glass, metal, masonry, concrete, rubber, and plastic surfaces.
  • Neutral, noncorrosive cure: The low-odor alcohol-cure system is suitable for use with metals and other corrosion-sensitive materials.
  • Flexible cured silicone: Delivers 420% typical elongation and a continuous use-temperature range from -55 to 149°C.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Sealing and repairing roof penetrations, gutters, and concrete floor seams
  • Marine equipment, windows, pipes, and threaded connections
  • Bonding, sealing, and assembly of original equipment components

Application and cure

Apply DOWSIL™ 832 to clean, dry, frost-free surfaces. The ready-to-use material requires no mixing and cures through reaction with moisture in the air. Primer is typically unnecessary, although DOWSIL™ 1205 PR-Prime Coat is recommended for best adhesion to concrete.

Surface preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, frost-free, and free from oil and dirt.
Primer: Primer is generally not required; use DOWSIL™ 1205 PR-Prime Coat for best adhesion to concrete.
Surface-cure timing: Typical skin-over time is 20 minutes and tack-free time is 50–90 minutes at 25°C and 50% relative humidity.

Storage and Handling

Store at or below 32°C. Under these conditions, the product has a usable life of 18 months from its date of manufacture. For best results, use the material completely within six months after opening and keep the container sealed when not in use. A cured plug may form in the dispensing tip during storage; it can be removed without affecting the remaining material.

After cure

Cured properties

Typical laboratory values after seven days of cure at 25°C and 50% relative humidity. These values are not intended for use as guaranteed specifications or universal joint-performance limits.
