Main features
- Room-Temperature Adhesive Cure
- 45-Minute Working Window
- 2,800 psi Cured Tensile Strength
Product Description
Devcon® Plastic Steel Putty (A) is a steel-filled, two-part epoxy putty that cures at room temperature and is designed for filling, rebuilding, and bonding metal surfaces. Its putty consistency supports application on vertical surfaces, and the cured material can be machined to a metallic finish. The product bonds to aluminum, concrete, and many other metals and has a typical 45-minute pot life at 75°F (24°C) with a 16-hour functional cure. After seven days of cure at 75°F (24°C), typical properties include 2,800 psi (19.3 MPa) adhesive tensile shear strength, 8,260 psi (57 MPa) compression strength, and Shore D 85 hardness.
Key features
- Steel-filled machinable epoxy: Cures at room temperature and can be machined to a metallic finish after cure.
- Vertical-surface application: Putty consistency and documented application characteristics support filling and rebuilding work on vertical surfaces.
- Mechanical performance: Typical cured properties include 2,800 psi (19.3 MPa) adhesive tensile shear strength and 8,260 psi (57 MPa) compression strength after seven days at 75°F (24°C).
Applications / Suitable for
- Patching and repairing areas where welding or brazing would be undesirable or impossible
- Duplicating or tracing masters
- Short-run dies and molds
