Product Description

LOCTITE® ABLESTIK 342-3.5 is a two-component amber epoxy adhesive for general assembly applications. It can cure at room temperature or with heat and is documented for bonding semi-porous materials such as ferrites where a physical bond is required. The adhesive provides a typical viscosity of 5,000 mPa·s at 25°C and an eight-hour work life at 25°C. Guideline cure options include 48 hours at 25°C, 4 hours at 75°C, 2 hours at 95°C, or 1 hour at 120°C. Typical cured properties include Shore D hardness of 86, a glass-transition temperature of 71°C, and aluminum-to-aluminum lap shear strength of 29.0 N/mm² at 25°C.

Key features

  • Room-temperature or heat cure: Guideline cure schedules range from 48 hours at 25°C to 1 hour at 120°C.
  • Extended working time: Typical work life is eight hours at 25°C, based on a 25% increase in viscosity.
  • High bonded-joint strength: Typical aluminum-to-aluminum lap shear strength is 29.0 N/mm² at 25°C.

Applications / Suitable for

  • General assembly bonding
  • Bonding semi-porous materials such as ferrites where a physical bond is required
  • Aluminum-to-aluminum bonding under the documented test condition
