Main features

  • Polyurethane Leading-Edge Erosion Protection
  • Conformable Curved-Surface Coverage
  • High-Shear Acrylic Attachment

Product Description

3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8681HS is a leading-edge erosion-protection tape built with an abrasion-resistant polyurethane elastomer backing, a high-shear pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, and an easy-release plastic liner. The polyurethane resists puncture, tearing, abrasion, erosion, and ultraviolet exposure while remaining conformable over curved surfaces. Typical data include 500% elongation at break, 148 N/100 mm peel adhesion to bare aluminum at 21 deg C, and a maximum service temperature of 82 deg C. The tape can be painted or applied over painted surfaces and is designed for protective coverage on exposed leading-edge surfaces.

Key features

  • Erosion-resistant polyurethane: Tough polyurethane construction resists puncture, tearing, abrasion, and erosion on exposed leading edges.
  • Conformable curved-surface application: The tape follows curved surfaces for protective coverage on rotor blades and other leading-edge geometries.
  • High-shear acrylic attachment: A long-aging, solvent-resistant acrylic adhesive provides pressure-sensitive attachment for demanding surface-protection use.

Applications

Applications include rotor-blade, aircraft, and industrial leading-edge protection in areas exposed to abrasion, erosion, rain, or sand.
