Main features
- Dual-Liner Aircraft Wet-Area Installation
- Tough Polyurethane Fluid-Barrier Protection
- 82 deg C Wet-Area Service
Product Description
3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8657DL is a flame-retardant dual-liner polyurethane protective tape for wet-area corrosion prevention in aircraft interiors. The tough polyurethane elastomer resists puncture, tearing, abrasion, and scratching, while the pressure-sensitive adhesive provides straightforward attachment over aircraft floor panels. A 3 mil polyethylene bottom liner protects the adhesive before application, and a 2 mil polyester top liner serves as an installation aid before final removal. Installed over floor panels and adjoining walls, the tape forms a fluid barrier for areas such as lavatories and galleys. Its approximate applied thickness is 0.46 mm, with a maximum service temperature of 82 deg C.
Key features
- Dual-liner installation control: The 3 mil polyethylene bottom liner and 2 mil polyester top liner protect the adhesive and aid controlled installation.
- Tough polyurethane fluid barrier: The flame-retardant polyurethane elastomer resists puncture, tearing, abrasion, and scratching in aircraft wet areas.
- Wet-area service capability: The installed tape forms a fluid barrier over floor panels and has a maximum service temperature of 82 deg C.
Applications
Use 3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8657DL over aircraft floor panels and adjoining walls in wet areas such as lavatories and galleys to limit fluid exposure to the floor system.
